Motherhood by Spiritual Adoption: When It’s The Heart To Get ‘Bumpy’

9 / 11 / 1411 / 11 / 20

BWingPendant 003

Not every mom gives birth from her belly.

But that’s okay. That’s good! Motherhood is a miracle of its own, it doesn’t have to happen by biology. The first place we give birth from is the heart. Some moms are blessed to give birth twice, from the heart and from their bodies, others  only give birth from their hearts.

It’s not a lesser birth, though. Regular adoption and spiritual adoption are just as strong.

Adoptions from the Heart: What They Are and the Relationship with Birth Mothers

11 / 8 / 2011 / 9 / 20

Photo to illustrated the article "Adoptions from the heart", showing a mother with a child on her back, looking at the horizon with the sun, surrounded by grass

I explained in the past that I’m a spiritual mother or a mother from the heart, in that I didn’t legally adopt my children, but I created a bond with them, a connection, where we love each other as mother and children.

There are no papers, only love, and I don’t substitute myself to their birth or adoptive mother, but they add me as an extra mom to love and take care of them.

Furthermore, there’s no age limit: some of my spiritual children are grown-up people who are older than me.

This is the essence of what an adoption from the heart is: a loving connection between two people of any age where one loves as the mother and the other loves as the child.

Guest Post: The Truth About Breastfeeding After Breast Surgery

9 / 20 / 1811 / 10 / 20

By Dr. Michael Yunaev.

For a lot of new mothers, breastfeeding their baby can be incredibly rewarding because it helps to cement the bond between mother and child.

But if you have had breast surgery, you might be concerned about breastfeeding.

Unfortunately, different types of breast surgeries can affect your ability to breastfeed or make it more difficult.

So if you’ve had these types of surgeries, this is what you need to know.

Stay Sane While Pumping! My 5 Tricks to Avoid a Meltdown

8 / 14 / 1811 / 10 / 20

When I pump—especially when I power pump—it sometimes gets boring.

Breast pumping is a mechanical repetition of hand movements, and even with an electric pump, I still have to sit somewhat stiffly to avoid my breast from slupping off the pump (the plus that comes with having been blessed with big breasts, hahah).

I try to focus on my children, fantasize about the day we’ll share this bond again, watching their photos and remembering the time spent together, but you know what—it doesn’t always work. Being an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person), thinking too much of my children ends up getting my levels of nostalgy too high to bear with and that pain triggers a bad kind of anxiety attack (that usually transforms into a meltdown).

Distractions – I need distractions.

Many moms do.

Highly sensitive moms double do.

In this post, you will read about the methods I use to trick my brain into staying calm and enjoy the pumping session despite the low brain stimulation.

I hope you find them helpful!
