Adoptions from the Heart: What They Are and the Relationship with Birth Mothers

I explained in the past that I’m a spiritual mother or a mother from the heart, in that I didn’t legally adopt my children, but I created a bond with them, a connection, where we love each other as mother and children.

There are no papers, only love, and I don’t substitute myself to their birth or adoptive mother, but they add me as an extra mom to love and take care of them.

Furthermore, there’s no age limit: some of my spiritual children are grown-up people who are older than me.

This is the essence of what an adoption from the heart is: a loving connection between two people of any age where one loves as the mother and the other loves as the child.

Motherhood by Spiritual Adoption: When It’s The Heart To Get ‘Bumpy’

Not every mom gives birth from her belly.

But that’s okay. That’s good! Motherhood is a miracle of its own, it doesn’t have to happen by biology. The first place we give birth from is the heart. Some moms are blessed to give birth twice, from the heart and from their bodies, others  only give birth from their hearts.

It’s not a lesser birth, though. Regular adoption and spiritual adoption are just as strong.

Motherhood of the Heart: I’m a Spiritual Mama

In this entry I’m going to tell you about a special kind of motherhood: motherhood of the heart or spiritual motherhood.

You may not have heard about it. I coined it, because I couldn’t find a type of motherhood that would suit my kind.

I am a mother of the Heart or a spiritual mama, a woman who deeply loves other human beings of true motherlove, and these people love me back with the devotion and affection that only children — sons, daughters and queer children — have.

And they do call me “mom”.

So, a spiritual mama is at halfway between an adoptive mother and a birth mother: she didn’t give birth to her children, but her love gave birth to a connection to her children’s hearts, who are now linked to hers.

This is a motherhood that’s mostly spiritual and pure. But for that, so precious and cherishable.

The Mama

Luana, the MamaI’m a 35 years old mom to many beautiful spiritual kids (adopted in the Heart), whom I adore and would brag about for the centuries to come. I’m also an elder sister who helped raise and educate two younger siblings. I created Spiritually, Mama Luana to share my journey and find other moms who are my kindred souls, as well as to be helpful to any mom out there. Thanks for stopping by!
